🛒 Trader Joe’s Cinnamon Rolls (Air Fryer) Ingredients

WhHere’s what you need to air fry cinnamon rolls

  • Large cinnamon rolls from a can (Trader Joe’s cinnamon rolls, Pillsbury, or another brand)
  • Cooking oil spray (non-aerosol)

Get a printable recipe card below! Canned cinnamon rolls nearly always come with an icing packet, so you should have everything you need.

The cinnamon rolls I used measure about 2.5-2.75 inches (6.35-7 cm) in diameter. If yours are much larger or smaller, it could affect the cooking time. Smaller rolls tend to cook faster, and times can also vary slightly depending on your air fryer.

I’m air frying the rolls as they are, but some recipes cut the dough into bites or donuts first. Feel free to get creative!

😋 How to Make Air Fryer Cinnamon Rolls

Let’s learn how to air fry cinnamon rolls! Open the can and set the icing packet aside for later. It’s ready to use as is.

Lightly spray your air fryer basket or tray with cooking spray to prevent sticking. Arrange the cinnamon rolls in a single layer, leaving space between them so they can puff and spread. If your basket is small, cook them in batches.

How long does it take to cook cinnamon rolls in the air fryer? Cook large canned cinnamon rolls at 350 degrees Fahrenheit (175C) for 8–11 minutes in the air fryer. If using an air fryer oven, place them on the top rack near the heating element.

If the bottoms aren’t fully cooked after 8 minutes, gently flip them and cook for 2–3 more minutes.

Add the icing after air frying for less mess. Snip a corner of the packet and drizzle it on. Your warm, gooey treat is ready to enjoy!

P.S. If they turn out misshapen for some reason, pretend it happened on purpose and make them into cinnamon roll snails. (That recipe cracks me up. Hahaha)

To make cinnamon rolls in the oven, simply follow the directions on the packaging. My cinnamon roll package suggests baking them in a 350F (175C) preheated oven for 18-20 minutes. For a dark cookie sheet, they recommend baking at 325F (163C).

Drizzle oven baked cinnamon rolls with icing after baking.

How long will cinnamon rolls last in the fridge?

Air fried cinnamon rolls get stale quickly and should really be eaten the same day. You can keep leftover cinnamon rolls in an airtight container in the fridge for about 2 days.

How to reheat cinnamon rolls?

Reheating cinnamon rolls (with frosting) is easy. Microwave them for about 30 seconds or air fry at 350F (175C) for 2-3 minutes. Reheating cinnamon rolls in the oven takes too long, so I wouldn’t bother.

💭 Expert Tips from Dietitian Summer Yule

This is a level 3 recipe (weight maintenance and active lifestyles). Here’s a common question: can you eat cinnamon rolls every day as part of a healthy diet?
For most people, probably not if you are trying to stay within added sugar recommendations. One large cinnamon roll has about 24 grams of added sugar. The American Heart Association suggests limiting added sugar to 25 grams per day for women and children, and 36 grams for men. Fitting one in daily would leave very little room for any other added sugars from sauces, flavored yogurts, or other packaged foods.
That said, there’s no single way of eating that works for everyone. For example, someone recovering from an eating disorder may choose to include cinnamon rolls regularly as part of their healing process. In general though, it’s best to get most of your calories from nutrient-dense whole foods rather than ultra-processed desserts. Organic cinnamon rolls are still mostly white flour, sugar, and added oils, just like other brands.
Having a cinnamon roll occasionally is fine if it fits your overall eating pattern. If you want to make it part of a meal, try pairing it with foods that add protein (eggs, yogurt, or cottage cheese) and fiber (fruit).

Are air fryer cinnamon rolls vegan?

Most canned cinnamon rolls are not strictly vegan, since refined white sugar is often processed with bone char and some brands contain dairy. If you are flexible about sugar sourcing, Immaculate Baking, Annie’s, and Trader Joe’s cinnamon rolls do not contain animal ingredients at the time of writing.
