I recently attended the Food & Nutrition Conference & Expo (FNCE), the premier event for registered dietitians. It was exciting to see so many food companies focusing on products designed to support key dietary health goals. These include boosting protein and fiber intake, increasing the consumption of fruits, vegetables, and whole grains, and offering more options for special diets, like gluten-free.
Here are some of my favorite food discoveries from the expo, along with how they can support various health goals. Links to all products are provided at the end. As always, it’s important to consult with a physician or dietitian familiar with your medical history before making significant changes to your diet, especially if you’re following a medical nutrition therapy plan. – Summer Yule, MS, RDN
Wilde Protein Chips (Protein)

Wilde protein chips are made of chicken breast and egg whites, making them a great potato chip alternative for those on high protein or low carb diets. They come in a variety of fun flavors like spicy queso and buffalo. I tried them, and was surprised that this thin and crispy chip reminded me a bit of Pringles. It’s magic!
Quaker Protein Instant Oatmeal (Protein)

I love starting my day with oatmeal and often recommend plain, no-sugar-added oatmeal to others. I also suggest adding some protein for a more balanced meal. Quaker makes it easy by offering instant oatmeal packets with added protein and no added sugar. It’s a convenient way to enjoy this nutritious whole grain!
Banza Waffles (Protein)

You probably know Banza for its chickpea-based pasta and pizza, but did you know they now make waffles too? Breakfast is often the meal where people struggle to get enough protein, so I love that Banza is making it easier for waffle lovers to enjoy a protein-packed start, even on busy mornings!
Actual Veggies Burgers (Fruits & Veggies)

Actual Veggies has introduced a line of flavorful, veggie- and spice-packed vegetarian burgers to help boost your vegetable intake. Since veggies are the food group most people struggle to eat enough of, these burgers are a game-changer. Unlike many other products, they focus entirely on making it easier to enjoy more vegetables, rather than prioritizing protein.
GoGo SqueeZ Active (Fruits & Veggies)

GoGo SqueeZ Active offers convenient fruit blend pouches that make it easier for busy kids to get more fruit in their diet. Since they’re non-perishable, they’re perfect for packing in lunchboxes or taking to sports practice. Plus, the added electrolytes help replenish essential minerals lost during physical activity.
GoodPop (Fruits & Veggies)

GoodPop makes no added sugar 100% fruit juice popsicles without artificial sweeteners. Though fruit juice has been stripped of the fiber found in whole fruits, juice still contains many of the micronutrients in whole fruit, such as vitamin C. They’re also hydrating, and a great way to cool down!
Undercover Chocolate Quinoa Crisps (Whole Grains)

Here’s one for you if you’re looking for something at the intersection of nutritious and indulgent. Undercover Quinoa Crisps are a delicious chocolate-covered snack that are made with quinoa (a protein-packed ancient grain). They come in various milk and dark chocolate varieties, and remind me a bit of the Star Crunch treats I loved as a kid.
Olyra Breakfast Biscuits (Whole Grains)

Olyra has crafted a line of breakfast biscuits made from spelt and other ancient grains, available in unique flavors like cinnamon tahini and fig anise. We love them with a cup of coffee in the morning, but they are also great as a midday snack.
Kefir (Probiotics)

Kefir is a fermented milk beverage, similar in taste and texture to a thin yogurt. Some Lifeway kefir products offer both probiotics and prebiotic fiber, and they come in a range of flavors. If you’re looking to switch up your morning yogurt routine, why not give kefir a try?
Fiber Gourmet Pasta (Fiber)

Fiber Gourmet makes low-calorie, high-fiber pasta that, in my opinion, tastes just as good as traditional pasta. If you’ve been looking for an easy way to increase fiber intake, swapping your regular pasta for Fiber Gourmet (or one of the legume pastas) can be a great option.
Oatly (Dairy Free, Vegan)

Many non-dairy milks on the market, like those made from tree nuts or soy, are common allergens. While rice milk has been available for some time, it often lacks the richness of nut-based options. Oatly, made from oats, offers a creamy, nut-free alternative that’s both delicious and allergy-friendly.
Gourmend Seasonings (Low Fodmaps)

FODMAP diets can be tricky, especially when it comes to seasonings, as many contain high-FODMAP ingredients like garlic and onion. Gourmend has found a clever solution by using the greens of these plants, creating a line of low-FODMAP seasonings that still pack plenty of flavor.
Nairn’s Breakfast Biscuits (Gluten Free)

Nairn’s is a Scottish company that has created a line of gluten-free breakfast biscuits in delicious flavors such as dark chocolate & coconut. As with any GF product, be sure to check the label or contact the company to ensure the product is certified gluten free if you have celiac disease. Sometimes products change their formulations, and the label will have the most accurate info.
Fair & Square (Gluten Free)

Fair & Square offers a line of certified gluten-free crackers made from green banana flour. They’re top allergen-friendly and come in flavors like sea salt and cheddar cheeze. I tried them and was pleasantly surprised by how much they taste like a classic cracker!
Zego Oatmeal (Gluten Free)

Although oatmeal is naturally gluten-free, it is often contaminated with gluten-containing grains during packaging and processing. That’s why it’s crucial for people with celiac disease to choose oats that are certified gluten-free. Zego oatmeal is a great option to consider, as it’s not only certified gluten-free but also purity-tested for glyphosate and other chemicals.
Milton’s Crackers (Gluten Free)

Milton’s makes a variety of delicious products, from cauliflower crust pizza to gluten free crackers. If you can’t find them in your local grocery stores, they are also available on Amazon.
